To get to this page, you will have already seen our school 'Virtual Learning Environment' (VLE) that is largely integrated into our ICT department lessons, and increasingly being used throughout the school. Please feel free to explore this website, and also visit our school website
at www.CoombeDean.co.uk, which also
has a vast amount of information about the school in general.
We have an ever growing selection of ICT rooms and facilities here at 'Coombe Dean School', with 3 rooms being added and/or updated this year alone. These rooms are primarily used for ICT based lessons, but also utilised by a range of other subjects to enhance their teaching and learning for a wide range of different activities and tasks.
Subject Leader: M Spencer
KS3 Students study a wide range of different modules throughout their ICT lessons in KS3, providing them with an enriched skills based to support their lifelong use of ICT, as well as preparing them for higher level qualifications later on in school. To allow all students to experience this mixture of lessons, ICT and technology operate a 'carousel' system in Years 7 and 8, which provides students with a chance to study 4 different modules throughout each year, before adopting a 1 lesson per week timetable in Year 9. Current ICT modules are seen in the following.
KS4 Students at KS4 follow the 'OCR Nationals' course, which provides the opportunity to study a selection of different modules at a higher level, completing projects for either a set design brief, or their own identified client, audience and purpose. Through commencement at Year 9 and through the 2 years at KS4, almost all students achieve a minimum of 2 GCSEs in ICT through completing necessary units. Current units studied can be seen in the following.
